That I'm still in my jammies? I really should go take a shower and put on some stretchy clothes at least lol. Maybe in a few minutes...

Another day in the crazy house

I was trying to sleep just a little bit longer but miss/mr tweety tweetener just can't stop singing the glory of the new day at the top of it's lungs. Good morning to you jack ass!!

Might as well get up so I can have a little computer time today. I am going to drive my mom to San Francisco to go see her sister. I guess they confirmed that she does have leukemia (my neighbors tells me through email). She has some weird kind of infection going on in her leg too but I guess they haven't figured out what that is about yet. The email also said it is a treatable kind of leukemia, which thank God for that! She has 2 kids, one is 10 and the other is 12 I believe. Sad family don't even know how old my cousins are. That's what happens when your family fights about stupid crap and doesn't talk for years.

Anyhow, last time I drove to UCSF was when my step dad was there getting treatment for lymphoma. It's an awesome hospital and they literally saved his life so I'm glad she is there. I just need to empty my bank account so we can afford to park there.Pin It

Stupid Softball

So Jessica has spent the whole summer going to softball practice. She couldn't go spend the night at her friend's on Friday's nights because she has practice. I drove back and forth to town 2x a week for practice. DH got off early to go pick her up for practice and got up every Saturday morning to take her to practice.

We missed the first tournament because of the Warped Tour concert we had already paid for. We were going to go to a tournament this weekend in Sonora. Today they had a meeting for the team and they CANCELLED THE TEAM.

Nice.

What a waste of the freaking summer.Pin It

Things about the country

When I tell you that I live in California you probably bring up visons of a beautiful sunny day, lounging by the ocean with my long blonde hair and beautiful bikini body.

What most people don't realize is that not everyone that lives in California lives on the beach or even close to the beach. Yes the sun is shining, a blazing heat most of the time that you can hardly escape from. We sleep with fans on every night in the summer. And not just one fan. We have the ceiling fan and 2 box fans in our bedroom. I have been known to go to sleep with a wet towel draped over my body only to wake up in the morning to have it completely dry.

And as for that bikini body, I have owned 2 bikini's in my life time. Both hit the Goodwill bag not long after I was out of highschool. We are all for full coverage here in Californ-I-A.

So I've told you all before that I live in the country right? We are about 12 miles from ANYTHING. (Thus the Mom Taxi for the teenager). I didn't always live in the country. When I lived with my parents we lived in another city not too far away but we were in a nice new housing developement full of tract homes, planned parks and a community pool.

Shortly before my husband I got married we found our little house for more than half of the price we were trying to pay rent for in the city. The whole idea of being able to afford a whole tube of toothpaste and not the trial size version was enough to get us moving into our little fixer upper.

When we first moved out here I quit my job. I wasn't making much over the minimum wage and it just seemed silly to commute for a few hours.

Enter long days of staying at home by myself, in the country, with no one to talk to.

So I'd sleep in (I never was the type to get up and get my husband "off to work").

The first time I heard a crop duster flying low over my house I seriously almost crapped my pants. I was laying there and heard this loud plane engine and my first instinct was to run outside. QUICK! Before I was killed by the plane. I ran outside in my little nightie and looked to the heavens to find out WTH was going on. That's when I saw it.

A crop duster.

So I looked around hoping no one saw me run outside scared to death I was dying and quickly walked inside the house. Where of course I could never fall back asleep.

Just when I THINK I've gotten used to the country life (it has been 15 years since we moved out here), I hear the low rumble of the crop duster coming. It's loud swoops back and forth over our house and all I can do is laugh at myself and that first time it scared me so much!Pin It

So tired

Just finished cleaning up Trevor's and Melissa's room. Ugh. It was such a pigstye. It's the first thing you seem when you open the front door so I figured it was about time to put on my safety goggles and get in there and clean it up. When it gets that bad I can't even send the kids in to do it because they don't know where to start. I'm going to try and really stay on them to keep it cleaned up!

Before I did that I cleaned up the living room which I have been cleaning pretty religously but I must have missed a day or two because holy crap they had a mess going in here. The house is all pretty much pick up now except of course for the crap in my bedroom that just never.seems.to.go.away. I'm going to work on that tomorrow.

My mom went and saw my aunt. I guess they have her on morphine so she was kind of out of it. She said that she doubts she will remember anything they talked about later. My mom actually talked to her father which I cannot remember the last time she did that. She said he was actually carrying on a conversation with her. Amazing!Pin It

Monday Madness

This picture reminds me of when Buster was little and one of the kids shut him in the fridge. I was sitting in the living room and kept hearing the kitten making noise and finally went and opened up the fridge and out popped the cat! Good thing we hadn't been gone for a long time or anything.

So I started off this morning with a phone call from my mom. Someone called her to tell her that her sister is in the hospital and they think she might have leukemia. She hasn't really talked to her sister since the big family explosion after my grandma died 8 years ago. She brought my nephew over here so she could go see her in the hospital. I'm kind of hoping that this will bring the family back together and my aunt WILL NOT have leukemia. We can all hope (and say some prayers!).

Yesterday I went to my mom's book club meeting. I've been trying to get into her book club since she first started going and she finally let me go after I told her she must be embarrassed by me or something since she won't let me go. Of course she denied it and then promptly let me join them lol. The next book they are going to be reading is Three Cups of Tea. It looks interesting. Anyone else want to read it along with me and share what they think about it?Pin It

More Old Photos

I've been scanning some more old photos this evening.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Maggie, Louise, Frankie (great grandma), Josephine and Frank. They gave all their girls names that could be boy names when shortened. Isn't that different for 1908 (Alberta, Canada)

Great Grandma on the right (Frankie). This picture is taken in Santa Cruz in 1927

You know that song Frankie & Johnny were lovers? Well that is what my Great Grandparent's names were. Isn't that funny! So here is Frankie & Johnny circa 1929, not sure where it's taken

This is a REALLY old picture I think! It says "Ernst Cattle Ranch, Nevada" on it.

Ah there were 3 photos with this "set" from 1931. On the back of one is says Frankie & Johnny's Saturday night joy ride. 1928 Dodge Coupe. 12 Days in hospital, Frankie had black eyes. She was very angry! (yeah I'd be pissed too!)Pin It

Cat Organizer

This is too cute!

Looks like they need to build on to their "organizer"

::Yawn::

I just finished painting Jessica's room. I think I'll call it the dungeon now. It's so dark! I found a cute comforter today and some green sheer curtains. Hopefully Jess likes them. I want to try and pull the carpet up tomorrow. It is so gross and now has paint on it (not all me!)

Before (I kind of like the before better)

After:

Before:

After:

Window area:

Here is the bedding set I found today at Wal Mart (I don't really like WM that much but I looked in the mall too and didn't find anything)

I bought it and the sheet set. I was just looking online to find it to show you all and found this one. I think it's cute too.

OOO like this one

Ok will have to see what Jessica likes. Which one do you like? The one I got was the only one kind in the store so I will have to order the others if she likes them.

So I got done painting and came out of the bedroom. I look over and Trevor is watching something with two women making out???

Scott was snoring in the recliner. I gave him a whack and was like WTH?? Your son is watching SMUT!

And we don't even have cable!

TG that kid finally fell asleep. In the middle of when I was painting (and taking a 5 to eat dinner) I heard a knock at the door.

It was a cousin that I haven't seen in awhile (although I talk to her on Myspace). Last time she came over she was like 9 and this time she drove herself so that tells you how long it's been since she came to my house.

Trevor took this opportunity to act like a total psycho.

I of course was wearing rags to paint in. The house is a wreck since I was gone most of the day and yesterday I was concentrating on that stupid bear dress.

So I'm sure we left a great impression on her lol.

We'll see if she dares to come back

:evil cackle:

But seriously, why do people NEVER come over when your house is clean??? Could be the fact that that doesn't happen that often lol.

And before you recommend it, yes I know about Flylady, I'm a member and delete her emails religiously!

Ok I don't know about you all but I'm totally enjoying my music player thing I added.Pin It

I'm baaack

Nothing much to report. It was relatively painless but she "narrated" everything she was doing. I was like OMG just get it over with! I'm freaking 34 I know what you are doing!Pin It

A real post

Ok sorry about that little venting thing I did this morning.

~~dusting off psycho woman dust~~

I'm going today to the Dr to get my "yearly".

Sorry Jared, you can just skip this post.

So where was I. Oh yeah, I haven't had my "yearly" in about 5 years so I guess it's not really a "yearly" for me.

I used to be good and go every year.

Back when I had good insurance (that I THOUGHT was crap) and only had to pay like $10 to go to the doctor. Now it's $35 with my REALLY crap insurance that I pay even more money for.

Plus a percentage of things.

Yeah it sucks.

Good reason to go to college and get a job with bennies.

Anyhow, my friend just told me to "have fun at the doctors". I can think of so many things that are wrong with that!

The doctor I am seeing is actually a NP (nurse practitioner) and to tell you the truth I think she is a little on the "butch" side.

Now I'm really hoping she's not going to be getting excited about seeing my girly parts. Because really, once you've seen one aren't they all pretty much the same?

I'm hoping mine aren't exciting.

Ok I'm grossing myself out now lol.

I'll be back with a full report later.

Hopefully I will have nothing to report on!Pin It

Good Morning!

Let me start by saying I am all for the little creatures. I'm usually the first one to go "awww" when I see a little animal or bird or whatever. I defend the burrowing squirrels that have made a mess of my brother's yard. Don't want to poison the gophers even though you can't walk through my yard without twisting your ankle.

But the fucking bird has GOT TO GO.

What the hell is it so happy about???

And why does it have to sing it's freaking loud ass song at 5:30 in the morning??

It's not a nice simple bird call. It's an elaborate concert performance with melody after melody after melody.

Shut the fuck up already!!!Pin It

Dear Target,

I'm writing to offer you a proposal. After our experience in your beautiful new store was cut short today by my hysterically crying five year old, I have come to the conclusion that you should

1.) Have a child's play area with someone to watch my kids while I shop

2.) Have a bar on the premisis.

It's a win win situation! Kids have fun, mom has fun. Mom leaves happy after spending tons of money in your store and the kids had a great time playing!

Today you had neither in your store and I had to leave so quickly I only spent $6 in your store.

Think about it.

Your want to be customer,

Finished!

Finished the dress for my mom's bear.

Good thing it wears a boa lol. I didn't do that great of a job but the thing has a HUGE head and body so I couldn't do it the way I had planned. Ended up kind of sewing it tighter once it was on the bear.

She said something about making some shoes and I said I didn't have any red fabric. Let's all pray she didn't buy any...Pin It

Ouch

My whole body hurts from painting. Even my fingers. I think I need to take some Motrin or something.

It's only 9:39 and Melissa is already watching a Mary Kate & Ashley movie. These movies are soo lame!

Dear Zit Gods,

I know you love me but you can pass over me tonight. I have enough for now.

What Do You Do All Day?

What Do You Do All Day?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter , the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spill ed on the floor , a broken glass lays under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today ? '

She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?'

'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.

She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'Pin It

Green Purple Green Purple

I can see myself freaking out on this paint job. Now I have to touch up the green, oh wait now I need to touch up the purple, etc, etc. I think I need to remember this is Jessica's room and she's just going to stick thumb tacks in it all when I'm done. I'm about 1/4 of the way done with the green. I thought I was done with the purple but now I need to touch a few things up again lol.Pin It

Paint

All over me! Apparently I'm a messy painter. I've been touching up Jessica's Room. Apparently the thrill of painting her room wore off really quickly lol.

Here's a reminder of the colors in the room

She taped all the trim that could have not been taped and didn't pull the tape off. So when she started to pull the tape off (when the paint was dry) it took off the paint from the wall. So she only did that in one spot I think. So that was where I started. Pulling off the tape, then painting along the edges of the wall and anywhere else that I can see needs more paint.

I also painted the door that she didn't paint. I have 1/2 the room done with the purple. Need to move some of her junk around to fix the other 1/2. So I'm taking a break. Going to paint all the trim in the green. So far the only green she did was on the ceiling. I've never had a different color ceiling from the wall so that is a bit of a challenge at the meeting point.

After I get done painting I'm going to take the carpet out. It smells. Not sure if I'm going to recarpet (probably not) or just get a big rug. Kind of thinking about having my brother show me where he got his discount laminate flooring at(we have wood floors but they really need to be sanded and refinished). The room is really small so it shouldn't cost too much to do the floor.

I'm also trying to decide if I should paint her old bed or get her a new one. Our budget it kind of tight right now but I remember seeing some cute beds in a box at Wal Mart. The bed she has now is pretty old and beat up.

I forgot to take something out for dinner. Thinking maybe we should have chinese food (don't barf Sarah!). I need to get a better paint brush for the trim anyways so I could do all that in the same trip.Pin It

I'm bad

I'm a bad daughter. My mom "invited" me to come down to help her paint some planter boxes at the entrance to the club today and I didn't go. I drove past her twice, once to take the boys to school and once on the way in. I honked on the way out and waved and snuck in when her back was turned so she wouldn't see me on the way home. I don't have anything against painting but I hadn't had any coffee yet. Or breakfast. Or blog reading. Hell I hadn't even read my emails yet! I can't do anything until I at least do that. I have to pick up the boys in a little bit. I hope she's gone then. Bad me.

So my morning started off by my big ass cat climbing on top of me for a snuggle. He must be eating some gophers or birds (please God let it be that really noisy one that sings all night) or something because he doesn't spend that much time in the house but OMG is he heavy.

My neighbor came over yesterday and he was complaining about "why do cats have to eat birds". Um nature? If the bird was smart it would build it's nest up higher after the first time the cats ate his babies. Sorry neighbor but my cat's don't keep me up all night SINGING in the dark. No sympathy from me.

Oh back to my morning. So my mom bring Tony over so I can take them both to school (my brother takes him over to her house when he goes to work in the morning. I'd offer mine but I don't want to get up that early). I hear whining. Um no. We don't do whining when I first wake up. Remember, I haven't had coffee yet.

So I guess he's whining about his socks. Mom hands me sock, runs out the door. Gee thanks Mom!! I'll get you back for that (remember the planter?). So I figure out what the problem is. His socks (which look like they are a size too big, this kid is tiny), have big knots on the edges of the seams across the toes. So I offer him a pair of Trevor's socks, which of course isn't good enough. We try going with no socks. Finally I get the scissors and cut the knots off (by this time we are in the car and I'm getting desperate). Yeah it makes a small hole. No, I don't feel bad. This works good enough and he stops crying, has his socks and shoes on and we are off!! Woohooo. What a way to start the morning.

So it's just me and Melissa in the house. I asked her what she wants to eat and she says waffles. So I get out the cookbook (waffles from a box are icky) and give her all the stuff. She's done and says it's too watery. I think she forgot some flour so we dump more in there and then it's ok. Her first batches come out almost raw. ICK. Waffles must be a light brown and crispy. She ate those and I made my own lol.

I can't believe it's almost time to go pick up the boys already. Trevor said I have to take him to buy a backpack today after school. So I guess that is what we will do.Pin It

ID ten T error

I got this in an email today:

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Richard, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Richard grinned. 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?''

No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T

I used to like the little shit.Pin It

When do I get to sleep in??

Ugh frustrated already this morning lol. They have a bridge program at the school for the Kindergarteners. We got the post card the day we got home from camping. Saw it and never saw it again! So I wasn't sure what time it started. My brother said they didn't get a postcard? So my mom comes over this morning all worked up that they never brought Tony over (she watches him during the week), and said we'll just go maybe my brother took him already. Get there at 8, go in the office it starts at 9 (no one would answer the phone when I called).

So then my mom wants to drive to town to my brother's work since his cell phone is apparently broke (and his house phone isn't hooked up). Called SIL she said she can't get ahold of him, doesn't know where he is blah blah. And really what kind of mom doesn't take her kid to the first day of something at the school??? If you have to work most places will let you come in late to take your kid to school on the first day type of thing.

So we drive to his work, he's not there, drive home, I go by his house and he is there. So much for me not driving much this week. He had Tony ready to go and was going to take him but my mom was so overwhelming he said we could take him. Gave us his paperwork to SIGN UP FOR SCHOOL (yes they didn't even turn it in yet!) except for his birth certificate that they can't find so are going to have to get a new one. (HELLO school starts in like 2-3 weeks here) So we dropped that stuff off and took the kids to the teacher. Same teacher all my kids have had so cool :O) They went straight for the playground and were having fun playing when I left. I get to go pick them up around 12.

The principal stopped me and asked me how Jessica is doing. Is it sad I am on a first name basis type relationship with the school principal lol.

So here's my munchkins for the first day of "practice" kindergarten. No tears from anyone! Trevor on the left and nephew Tony on the right. This was the first try, he's all into making weird faces when I take pics now, what a weirdo.

This was the 2nd try lol.

So I think this is like the longest weekend EVER. Since we have nothing we have to do (other than taking Jess to camp drop off) I've been sitting on my ass. Obviously since I've posted here so much today!

I just applied at like 5 places. YAWN. That's so freaking depressing. Doubt anyone will call me. You know, with the recession and the layoffs and global warming and all..

Mexican Oysters

A big Texan stopped at a local restaurant following a day roaming around in Mexico

While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful.

He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?'

The waiter replied, 'Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, bull's testicles from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!'

The cowboy said, 'What the heck, bring me an order.'

The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.'

The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and that evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said, 'These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday.'

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, 'Si, Senor.

Sometimes the bull wins."Pin It

Do you Wordle? And other random thoughts.

I just followed a link to the Wordle site. It's kind of cool. It makes a "word cloud" of words you use most on your blog. I'm thinking this is from my most recent posts lol. Notice the size of the word BEAR.

I actually slept in until 10:00 this morning. At that point Trevor was yelling at me

"WAKE UP!!"

"I WANT MILK!"

I told him to get his own milk but for some reason he always wants me to do that. Mommy is the milk maker, pour-er, server forever I guess. I keep thinking at some point he won't need me to get it for him. Probably at that point I will start bawling since my baby will be all grown up!

Jessica is going to camp tomorrow. She is going to be gone until next Saturday. You know what that means?? I might not have to go ANYWHERE. I'm not going to know what to do with myself. The car is going to feel neglected and my bank account might be $70 richer from not needing so much gas.

Scott is making breakfast. I know it's 11:00 but hey you can't start the weekend without a big breakfast. It makes me sad when he doesn't want to cook it and I have to resort to a bowl of sad looking cereal. He's making breakfast burritos. YUM YUM. And I wonder why I can't wear any of my shorts from last year.

Last night I applied for a job at Costco online. They are opening a new warehouse store close by and since my bank account is getting so small I thought I'd just try applying for part time (which let's face it, I'm sure they aren't hiring any part time people right now). It took an HOUR to fill out their online application. I guess it was thorough. It had a section where you had to answer questions like.

If a customer spit in your face what would you most likely do:

A.) Beat the crap out of them
B.) Squeal to the supervisor
C.) Get a coworker to help you beat the crap out of them
D.) Smile and walk away

Then you'd have to answer the question with what would you most likely NOT do with the same options. (That's an exaggerated question but you get the point). Some of them were really kind of hard to answer because really you don't know if they want you to answer it that you would do the compassionate thing or go straight to the supervisor. I personally don't think a supervisor would want to know if people were talking about him having an affair with another employee (an actual question). And let's face it, if everyone is standing around gossiping about whacked out customers you are going to join the party not go rat on them to the nearest supervisor! They are trick questions I think!! Yeah that's it!

Last night I took Trevor over to my brother's house to play with my nephew. Actually I was taking my nephew home and Trevor just went with him. When I pulled up I saw my brother and my cousin were sitting outside. When my brother is sitting outside at night that means free drinks so of course I had to get out and visit for awhile. 4 hours later and 2 drinks later (could have more but I was feeling fine!) Scott came looking for me lol.

I had a nice time visiting with my cousin and I have to say he's grown up a bit. We had a lot of conversations about how fucked up our family is that everyone hates my mom and how our whole family just basically fell apart after my Grandma died. Parts were sad but some of our reminiscing was fun. It's nice spending time with people that you have known your whole life and that also love the people that you love the most. He's got a physical and all that for a job next week and I really hope he gets it and is able to do well here. He was already thinking about moving back to Missouri because it's so hard for him to do well here.Pin It

Camping Day 4

Ok this was the last full day of camping. The day when everyone was starting to get a little grouchy. We went down to the lake again for most of the day. Scott and I spent most of the day playing rummy.

After we got back we ate dinner and sat around the campfire. While we were sitting there we heard this big loud banging noise. T jumped up and ran with a flashlight and saw a big bear breaking into their trailer via the screen door (the door wasn't closed, just the screen).

After that I sat about 1 inch away from the campfire laughing nervously and flashing my flashlight at every tiny little noise I heard. Finally about 2 I went to bed and layed there praying I didn't leave a stick of gum in the tent somewhere lol. I was pretty pumped up with fear!! I finally fell asleep. We got up in the morning and packed up all our stuff and we were on the way home by 10. We took the scenic route home with Scott flying around the corners and me hoping I wasn't going to puke.

We had a pretty nice time overall but I was so glad to be home!

Camping Day 3

Day 3 of camping we decided to go to Camp Richardson for our annual bike ride, followed by ice cream. On the way we stopped by here to see the view.

Trevor was having a great time. He's started making funny poses now when you go to take his picture.

While we were there there was a lesbian couple. I know it's supposed to be normal to see this now but I still can't get over that OMG feeling when I see 2 women together. They did have some cute little dogs though lol.

A had brought some binoculars and Melissa had a great time looking through them.

After this we got back in our cars and drove down to Camp Richardson where only about half of us went for the bike ride. We ended up in 3 different groups. When we were done we went over to the ice cream place and got our ice cream. I only have pictures of Melissa since she was in a different group.

So after our bike ride and ice cream we went back to the camp site to hang out. Everyone was sitting in the shade hanging out so I got my book and some snacks and sat down to read. The guys got up and started cooking the ribs on the BBQ and I was pretty much sitting by myself when A says "I see a bear!". I look over and about 20 feet away see brown coming towards me. I was like "OMG!!! What do I do" So I get up and kind of walk-run over to Trevor to make sure he's not in the path of the bear. He's fine and I show him the bear. We are all kind of watching it. Scott runs to grab the camera. And then it comes up to MY CHAIR and picks up MY SNACK BAG (which was empty)

Yes I was sitting in that blue chair about one minute before this. HOLY CRAP!! And it was nice and bright outside. Never thought we'd see one during the day. After it got done inspecting my snack bag it started to walk towards the bbq. That's when we all kind of woke up and started banging on stuff and Scott yelled really loud "GET OUT OF HERE" and it turned around and ran away. Apparently my face was 10 shades of white when all this happened because I got teased about it for the rest of the trip lol.

After they got done cooking we were all kind of thinking that maybe bringing a big BBQ wasn't such a good idea since it is NOT going to fit in a bear box. They turned it up high and burned everything off the grill hoping that would keep them away.

Later the camp host drove by and said that a bear had stolen a loaf of bread a few campsites down. We of course gave him our story.

The next morning we learned that during the night a bear had opened the door on a Yukon the next site over and got into the steaks they were marinating. It took 2 out of the 4 and left a mess all over their car. After hearing this I was a little more freaked out! Especially since we were all sleeping in a tent right in the middle of all of this!Pin It

Camping Day 2

I forgot to mention where we were camping yesterday. Although with all the BEARS I would recommend taking a dog that barks! My friend had her Yorkie but the thing never made a sound with any of the bear things going on.

We stayed at Sugar Pine Point Campground. When you stay at the campground you get free admission to their beach. The beach is below the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion

which is really cool but has a HUGE steep hill to go down to get to the lake. Going down is easy, going back up, not so much! I've never been in the mansion but Melissa got to go in it with our friend A who took her, Trevor, and 2 of his kids. After she went on the tour she went around smelling all the trees to find out which ones smelled like vanilla.

The older kids all love to go to this lake for the big dock they can jump off.

This is the #1 priority when we go to Tahoe! Jessica was all excited to have her friend M jump off with her since this was her first time camping with us there.

I have never went off the dock.

1.) I'm chicken
2.) The water is FREAKISHLY COLD
3.) I don't DO cold water.

If there is a sign like this you know the water is cold.

The water was a lot lower this year too so there was actually some beach to play on. Year before last when we went there there was hardly any drop on the dock and NO beach.

I actually did go in the water a lit bit but mostly sat on the beach reading

Bitter Is The New Black by Jen Lancaster.

I was happy to learn while I was reading the book that she got her start writing by being a blogger!

While I was sitting there I heard my friend scream. I instantly thought

"this HAS to be good blogging material!"

I took a video but blogger is being stupid at the moment. I will keep trying to load it.

Sure enough! They found a crawdad under the water (the bottom of the lake by the shore is full of rocks). My friend is cracking me up with her hysterical screaming over a crawdad.

I probably would have done the same thing though. Obviously we live a sheltered life lol.

There are tons of chipmunks running around too!

Here is Melissa

And worthless bear dog Sophie

Everyone spent some time making this rock spa

The air was still smokey on Sunday. Usually you can see the mountains on the otherside of the lake. There are always ferry boats on the lake.

Love this picture of Jessica and her friend M. They have been friends since they were 5.

When it was time to go Trevor was crying his legs hurt. I had brought this granny basket to help carry all our crap and told him he could ride in it. We had to take turns getting him up the wicked hill since he weighs a ton. I kept hoping one of the wheels wasn't going to pop off. He looks pretty cute to me though!

Stayed tuned tomorrow for the BEAR SIGHTING with photo evidence.Pin It
