What's in my head

I have two stalkers.

They are on Facebook. One is ten and one is sixteen. I think I need to hook the two of them up to be friends with eachother so they will stop sending me messages about how their hair is crunchy and their farm is cool.
----
I mopped all the floors in my house today. It was an attempt to wash the puppy pee smell away. I clean up the spots as they happen but I seem to have a "weird smell" in the house lately. I'm pretty sure it's from the puppy pooping and peeing on the floor. Eventually he'll get potty trained.

Right?
----
I went to Orchard Supply and Home Depot today to look at flowers for the yard. Still no petunias and of course I didn't buy the alyssum at Orchard thinking that Home Depot would have it in a flat. They didn't. They did however have the ground cover I've been looking for. I hope it's nice tomorrow morning so I can get that planted.

And the gladiola bulbs I bought.
And the margarite daisies I bought.
And the cosmos I bought.
----
Have you seen magnolia trees in bloom lately? They are SO pretty. I think I need one. I don't know where I'd put it though.
----
I've been thinking of making my backyard a vegetable garden. I'm wondering if my husband would go for it. Not that I really care since ALL the neighbor's yards are mowed and ours?

Is not.
----
I would have mowed it if we had gas for the mower, but we don't and I asked him to get some today.

He finished his book he's been reading.
----
Is it wrong that I went and bought t bone steaks for dinner and on a whim I bought a yam and cooked it for myself and actually enjoyed that better than the steak?

Yummy goodness!
----
Is my man the only one that has to crap everytime we need to be in the bathroom for an extended period of time? We only have one bathroom and lately he's been leaving for work later. I get up a little before six and then wake up all the kids when I get out of the shower. It never fails that he goes in there right at six to make his smelly contribution to the morning.

Timing is everything.
----
Speaking of the man, he's been wearing the same pants since Thursday. It's Saturday night.

Same pants. Day. Night. No shower?

Barf.
----
I'm excited that tomorrow I'm going to meet up with my elementry/middle school/and early high school years best friend. We found eachother on facebook. I hope we get a long good! She lives about two hours away so we are going to meet in the middle for lunch.Pin It

Age-ism?

Today I went out in the field with a co worker. On the way back we had to stop and get gas. We stopped at the gas station and we were just about done when a car with three teenage boys drove up. Or should I say, attempted to drive up. Their car died out with a sputter and they had to push it back and forward to get it to line up with the gas pump. One boy ran in and paid. I heard him come out and say he put $3 in.

I thought the whole thing was rather comical. I remember being a goofy teenager and running out of gas once. I wish I would have actually been AT the gas station when it happened!

My co-worker on the other hand was looking at them with loathing in her eyes. With total hate and disgust on her face. I couldn’t believe that someone would feel that way about a bunch of kids. What had they done wrong? Sure they were a bunch of goofy teenagers that just ran out of gas. One had his hat on backwards. One had a tattoo down his forearm. One had a thin line of facial hair along his jaw line. They were all laughing. No one was threatening in any way. They were just three teen boys out having fun.

She had quite a few choice words to say about them. Some of which were “look at how they dress, like children”. They were wearing jeans, t-shirts and ball caps. I told her that’s how all kids dress. What does she want them to be wearing khaki’s and polo’s? People just don’t dress like that around here unless they have a job or school uniform that requires it.

Maybe it was some kind of deep seeded feeling from something that made her feel so strongly about them. To make her feel like they were the scum of the earth. I hope no one ever looks at my son that way when he's a teenager out with his friends.Pin It

Suck It Up.

If you want to start some drama at work,
take something off someone's desk.

Make sure the person is very OCD about their stuff.

Then make sure you come in late so that you aren't there when they notice it's missing.
After you get to work act all innocent and  magically make it appear!

(I was neither person in this case but OMG the drama!)

Work cracks me up sometimes when people get SO worked up about things that are so minor. It must be the mom in me but I'm like

DUDE???

Is there any blood??
No?
Then you are OK!

Sheesh just CHILL!Pin It

Ole (pretend there is one of those accent marks over the e)_

So today is a holiday. One of those president ones, I can't remember which one, but does it really matter? It's not like it's an important day. Maybe at one time it was but now it's all about the day off and sales.

Jessica is taking Spanish 2 and they have to do this lip syncing competition. It's part of their grade. It was either participate in this competition or do a video of some sort, but obviously she chose the lip syncing thing. Which would be cool and ok if they practiced in class. But no, it's after school at least one day a week and EVERY FREAKING HOLIDAY.

WTF?

Holidays are supposed to be about sleeping in  and hanging out. Not about having to drive your kid to school and pick them up. This is one of those times I wish I lived in town.

Today she's looking for some closed back high heel shoes?

Never knew that was a prerequisite for taking a Spanish class.Pin It

Another Lovely Valentine's Day!

Today was an absolutely beautiful day! The sun was out and it was WARM! I actually broke out the flip flops and capri pants. I know all you people with snow are hating me now. Sorry! This is why we pay so much to live here I guess!

I started off the morning by going for a walk. I thought I was going to do the c25k thing but it's been so long since I've done it I only did the first run. I had Rusty with me too. Not that that is an excuse for not running but I am so freaking out of shape!! Oh well at least I got out and walked. Rusty is WORN OUT. He's been pretty calm all day today. Guess I need to take him for that long walk more often!

After I got home I worked outside the back door pulling out these monster weeds we get. I can actually walk from the car to the door now without having to do the high step. I'm thinking of getting some gravel to put down there. We always talk of putting a deck there but it's been 16 years and it hasn't happened yet.

I made a trip to Home Depot today too. Along with a ton of other people taking advantage of the sunshine. There is still hardly any plants there. I'm impatiently waiting for them to put out the big fenced in area in the parking lot that they fill with plants! I really need to add some color to the front yard. I think I'll go with the petunias again since they did so great last year and provide so much color. I have a big package of wildflower seeds that I'm thinking about throwing in the middle sections too. I guess I should finish the one side so I can do that!

Oh yeah and today was Valentine's Day too. Not much love in this house though. We got in a little fight last night at my brother's house and didn't talk to each other afterwards. I think we've said 5 words between the both of us all day. He did get me a card, although I didn't open it until after dinner because I was still pissed. I think this is the first year I didn't even buy a card. I just didn't feel the love. Sigh. Maybe this is just another down spot on the roller coaster track?Pin It

Busy Thursday

Yesterday was a fun day.

A co-worked did a little birthday party for me, complete with home made chocolate-espresso cake and 2 pretty peonys as a gift! So sweet. She's quite the cook and that cake was to die for!

Jessica is doing softball tryouts and we decided to take Rusty with us. There is a big soccer field there so we let him run around a bit. He still had his leash on and as he ran by I grabbed his leash and next thing I knew I was laying on the ground!! That little guy has some power! TG the ground was nice and soft (even though it was wet and had fresh cut grass). So I'm walking around with my head cocked to the side today.

Got home and threw together dinner real quick. I didn't have the taco seasoning that my recipe called for so I threw in this home made taco seasoning I had. OMG it was so spicey!! Poor kids. And we were out of milk so we were all eating bread and butter and putting extra sour cream on it to cut the spice. Woooweeee that was hot!

After that I abandoned my kids to go play Bingo. Didn't win anything the whole game but I DID win blackout! Although 3 other people won too so we had to split the $17 four ways. Oh well at least it didn't cost me anything to play :)

Someone just reminded me that this weekend is a three day weekend.

You make your own fun

So I've decided next year I'm either

1. Not having a birthday

or

2. Going to Vegas or some other happy place with lots of booze and no cares.

Who wants to go with me?Pin It

It's My Birthday!

Oh my gosh you guys!! Today's my 36th birthday!!
I have now been with my husband for half my life.
That's a LONG half my life.
To celebrate he left me this uber romantic birthday card on my pillow this morning.

I'm just so speechless!

I think this calls for at least a massage of some sort today.
After all, we do have a joint checking account.

WTF I hate politics

I'm feeling really melancholy today. (WTF? never heard of  black bile before)  Maybe it's the just the crap ass weather.

It's been looking like this  for weeks.

And now it's supposed to rain until Saturday. Woo exciting. I'm surrounded by political talk and how our government sucks in different ways and you know what? It's all way too much.

I long for the days that I didn't know anything. Days that were really not that long ago when I was a stay at home mom and would just go vote because it was the "right thing to do". Back when I didn't care. Well I still don't really care but I'm starting to feel like I'm a grown up and I should care. What's up with that? I just want to play with puppies and kittens and frolick in the sunshine with my kids and a margarita and call it a day.

I don't want to know about all the messed up things in the world. They suck and really what are you doing to change it? I know nothing in my little life is going to affect anyone in that big political world. Send a letter to your congressman and you get back a form letter and a subscription to their bull shit.

It's all liberal at work and conservative at home. I'm so "talked to" I don't know what I believe or don't believe.

Signed,

Mom Taxi in the fetal position hugging her puppy.

Teenagese

Does anyone else have a teenager that speaks another language? I swear something gets lost in translation everytime I talk to mine. It goes a little like this:

Me: I guess I'll drive you to youth group if I have to.

What she hears: God Damn It!! Why do I have to drive you to freaking youth group!? I hate driving you. It's such a waste of my time. You should just not go.

Me: Sure you can go to that concert

What she hears: Sure, you can go to that concert and I'll buy you some tickets and your friend's tickets, and I'll drive you and all your friends and buy you some stuff to eat and hang around the whole time and be totally there when you are done and it will be SO MUCH FUN!!

Me: are you almost done on the computer?

What she hears: OMG hurry the hell up!! What the hell are you doing on there just wasting all your time looking at Myspace and not really doing your homework like you said you were.

Oh wait maybe that is what I was really thinking.Pin It

I suck

I feel like such a loser. I've totally fallen off my c25k training. The weather was horrible for the last 2 weeks and then when Melissa broke her arm I actually forgot to go! Now I'm trying to get back to it but I haven't actually made it out the door yet. I keep thinking that if I could get up and do it in the morning it would be better. So far I've got up at 5:30 once this week but I really need to get up at 5 if I'm going to do it.

Have I mentioned that I'm not a morning person?

I doubt I'll get to it today since we have nothing left to eat for lunches in the house and I need to hit the grocery store.

And tonight is Wednesday, which means, HELLO Bingo night. I might win $3 again!!

So yeah. I suck. Need to get back to it.Pin It

Book Club For January

Sunday was book club day!
Our book that we got back in November
(we don't meet in December)
was

(from the Amazon site)
From Publishers Weekly

While Cameron depicts with accuracy and sympathy the very real plight of women in 19th century America, uneven pacing and character development weaken this debut. When the World's Fair arrives in Chicago in 1893, women are sexually repressed and strictly ruled by their husbands. Newlywed Dora Chambers goes to great lengths to keep her banker husband, Charles, happy, even ingratiating herself with a dreadful group of snotty socialites who oversee the decorum of the fair's more exotic exhibits, like the popular Egyptian belly dancing attraction. Dora is given the task of toning down the Egyptian dancers' act, strikes up a friendship with the troupe, and together they appease the outraged female population by modifying their dance and adding scarves to disguise their curves. Dora's husband, impatient with her virginal fear of the marriage bed, quickly resumes relations with his powerful and rich mistress, a widow who despises Dora and knows the secrets that can ruin Dora's social standing. Despite the intriguing subject and historical period, Dora's startling transformation under the tutelage of the dance troupe feels unreal, even though the story is based on fact.

I actually didn't finish the book because I just couldn't get into it. After listening to everyone at book club I've decided to try and finish it up. Everyone said the beginning was a little slow but it got better. I know my neighbor didn't like it at all though! Everyone else seemed to think it was good and the woman that picked it thought it was AWESOME. She's about 90 I think though so her view is a little different from the younger generation. That's kind of the fun part of having people of all ages in a book club.

I did actually buy this book but it got messed up so I don't feel comfortable giving it away! Bummer.

Our book for next month is

Which is actually my book that I let some one in book club read.
Soo I don't have to read it!
