Beans Beans The Magical Fruit

Today I took the day off work so that I could take Melissa to her Girl Scout Camp pick up. It was right smack in the middle of the day in another city so not much use going to work for 2 hours on either end and driving all that extra.  She'll be gone until Sunday. This year she's not going to the camp but an away adventure in San Francisco. I bet she'll have a great time!

While I was off today I got the dishes caught up (until I made dinner) and put away about ten loads of laundry (not exaggerating).

My mom just came and picked up Trevor so he can spend the night and play over there tomorrow while I'm at work. That leaves Jess. I tried to get her to go to my mom's too but she wouldn't do it. Darn.

So in today's old photos (just finished scanning the rest of the book tonight) I bring you:

My little brother dressed up in little girl/doll clothes.

That's me on the left and my friend Trina on the right. We used to walk to school and back and on our way was a little strip mall. At one point there was a consignment shop for kids clothes and they had a basket of free stuff. Free meaning it's too ugly to sell, but great fun for little girls. The lady that worked there was super nice and let us take stuff out of there. (She even gave me a ride home one time when I got scared because some bully kid was throwing stuff at me on the way home.) On this day we came home with some clothes for my brother. My mom informed me that they were girls clothes so we dressed him up anyways. Isn't he cute?

I don't know WHY my mom cut my hair. It was so pretty and here it looks like crap and I look like a boy. Maybe I cried too much when she tried to brush it or something.

I think back on this time and I was only 7 or 8 years old walking to and from school and going into stores without a parent. Crazy. Most of the time my friend Trina was with me, she lived one block over and was a year older. We'd also walk to the grocery store, taking back her mom's glass bottles, getting candy bars (I always picked the Charleston Chew since it was 3x as big as all the other candies) and a pack of smokes for her mom. Those were the days....

Oh and in the bathroom of that grocery store someone wrote the fart song on the wall.

Beans beans the magical fruit
The more you eat the more you toot,
the more you toot the better you feel,
SO EAT BEANS EVERY MEAL!!

Yeah I can't remember what I walked in the room for but I can still see that written on the bathroom stall.
