Long Run Saturday

This morning my alarm clock went off at 5:30 am and I got up without even hitting the snooze button. Today I had a TEN MILE long run on my agenda. I haven't run ten miles in a months. My last run was a bit craptastic so I made sure to eat something and to bring my water. Scott said he was going with me but he has hardly ran in two weeks thanks to the flu and other things so while I was hoping he'd make it the whole way I didn't have high hopes.

As soon as I started to run my knee was hurting. All I could think was gd mother trucker. Seriously? Am I really going to get messed up from one night of dancing? But after just a short bit it quieted down and eventually just stopped hurting. Woohooo

We weren't even a mile in when Scott backed off. I immediately turned my music up to get myself in a groove. This is my training. I need to keep my head in it. Don't worry about anyone but myself. Eventually I looked back and he was gone.

Which made me a bit sad because I was wanting to leave the neighborhood and go down the road a bit but it's too scary and dangerous to do that by myself. So it was 10 miles in the neighborhood.

I started figuring it out in my head how I was going to attack this now. If I just do the perimeter it's 4 1/2 miles. So even doing it twice would not be enough miles. I decided to just start running each longer road and that pretty much did it. I got to 10 miles right around the corner from my house. I don't know about you but I try to stay as far away from my house as possible until I am close to getting to my total mileage because that way there is less of a chance that I will decide to stop early.

I never glanced at my speed the whole time I was running (thank you new IOS 7 for making me have a pin code to open my phone up, very hard to do while running) and I am really happy with how fast I ran. I'm also very proud of myself for not stopping AT ALL and running the whole time. GO ME!!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I had just enough time to take a shower and get ready and then I had to go to a meeting, which took about an hour to happen. I just finished refilling all those calories burned and now :::yawn::: I think I'll go take a nap!Pin It
