I can't believe people buy this crap

Jessica and I went to Michael's the other day. I was walking through the store looking for her when I saw this out of the corner of my eye. You press the button and the fake butterfly flies around the jar. Instantly I thought this was crazy! Why don't you just give your kid a jar, punch some holes in the top and set them loose in the yard! I posted this picture on Facebook and someone said they were actually wanting to buy one of these for their kid and that they didn't have very man butterflies where they live.  Is that really possible? Do people really not have things flying around? I guess if you lived in a city in an apartment or something. I guess I take living in the country for granted.   I can just hand my kids a jar and set them loose and they can come back with all kinds of treasures. We actually hatched a butterfly moth  from a caterpillar we found in the yard once. That was pretty exciting.

My first memory of catching bugs was at my Grandma's house. She had a bunch of juniper bushes/trees along the front and side of her house. They would get TONS of lady bugs in them and Grandma gave me a jar to go catch some.   It didn't say "ladybugs" engraved in it but it worked just the same!Pin It

That is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time and I live in DC where you hear a lot of bullshit and dumb ass things!!

Seriously kids can go outside in the suburbs, the country and God forbid even the city and catch butterflies. I did as a kid. We used to catch catepillars in hopes they would turn into butterflies and of course lady bugs were a given!

If you spend your money on such a thing like this from Michaels you have too damn much money and your kid needs to learn to go outside.

Hows that for a morning rant?!

It's so sad to think some kids never get to see a real butterfly!
