dun dun dunnnn

Arf I'm slightly annoyed. Nothing new around these parts is it?

My brother just called a bit ago and NOW they are planning to elope in Reno.
Like NEXT MONTH.

The weekend before I wanted to have a big party for Scott's 40th Birthday.

Eloping is fine, much cheaper than cruises and hey I won't have to move chairs! BUT of course my nephew has to be there, so that means ALL MY KIDS. Which probably means either sneaking an extra in a room or getting two rooms which is $$. Oh and I just looked online and there are no rooms on the website. Which means they are all going to be booked and super expensive or we're staying in a rent by the minute place (not going to happen).

I wish they would have planned a bit farther out. Secretly hoping my other brother has to work that weekend so they have to change the date...

and on a totally different note, does anyone ever try to comment on the Dooce website? You have to register to post comments. Wow I can't even imagine being that awesome of a blogger!

and never google wedding ring hands. Unless you want to see something really gross.Pin It

Just another day with the Rednecks

While I was busy doing laundry, picking up and dropping off kids all over the place, my husband has been working on a little project. He's been reroofing the garage. Which really means taking off the roof, building a whole new roof, putting up new siding and moving my washer and dryer from one side to the other.

He hasn't been able to finish all the framing on the actual roof because he had a shed along the one side. It was about one foot to far over for him to get it done.

So being a man, he wanted to move the shed over to where my rusty shed was (by the vegetable garden). Which really means unloading both sheds, moving the rusty shed and moving the huge wood shed all the way around the perimeter of our yard.

Yesterday he got his shed unloaded and dragged out into the middle of the driveway area. I was pretty sure he was going to

A. kill himself and
B. ruin the transmission and or someother important part on his little truck because
C. apparently it's easier to use a really small truck for a big job than a big truck and
D. he hates to ask anyone for help.

Sound like a man?

So he was standing there looking all defeated yesterday and I being the huge help I am I said "gee maybe you should ask someone to help you?"

and the heavens parted and the light beamed down
and he went and called the neighbor!

Today the neighbor came over and helped him move the shed. When I left to go pick up the kids they had it up on a trailer.

When I got home they had old rusty unloaded and out of the way.

AND they were attempting to get it on the concrete (with the little truck of course). They just about had it on there when it slipped a bit and was leaning into the dog pen. That's when I went to bookclub.

When I got back it was on the concrete and no one was
"killed or worse".
Thank God!

Poor old rusty is going to live on down the road at a neighbor's place.
Hopefully he gets a paint job!
It's all good in the country!

What the hell???

Sometimes
SOMETIMES
SOMETIMES

I just want to scream
When I see all the laundry that's piled up.
I'm pretty sure I just had it caught up?

Trash or Treasures

Last night I was hanging out with my mom and the neighbor gal at her little house out by me. It's the total country house. We were sitting in the big wire basket chairs that my mom picked up somewhere sipping some cocktails and talking. Somehow we got on the subject of wedding photos.
So what do you do with pictures that you can't have out? Over the years I have accumilated quite a few pictures from when my mom and dad were together.

They started dating when she was fourteen, so I guess that would have made him fifteen. They seperated when I was about 5 months old so my mom was about 22. I obviously don't ever remember them being together. So for me, it's kind of cool to see the old pictures. I made a little scrapbook with just their pictures.

These dance pictures were taken at my dad's mom's house, so we have the added bonus of the memories that come of being with Grandma when we look at them.

Plus look at her hair! So cool. All that without bumpits!

I love this picture from their wedding.

Can you say 70's? Mom says she was pregnant in this picture, which if you look closely you can see her pants are unbuttoned lol. That's my dad and my dad's sister Aunt Corine. They are standing in front of the same Grandma's house.

Even though people don't stay together I don't think you should ever throw out the pictures. They are a part of your history.

A Visit with Aunt Anna

I was looking for some inspiration for something to write on my blog tonight. I was looking for a particular photo of myself all decked out with legwarmers, a rediculous hat, puffy jacket and lunch pail but :sigh: I must not possess that picture. I'm going to have to steal borrow it next time I go to my mom's house.

Aunt Anna & Grandma Susie at my Bridal Shower 1993

While I was looking for that picture I came across these pictures of "Aunt Anna". Like a lot of "aunts" out there, Aunt Anna didn't really belong to me. She was my step father's dad's brother's wife.  (got that?) My step dad's mom,  Susie,  and Aunt Anna lived on the same street. Susie was on one side and Aunt Anna on the other. While not directly across from eachother they were only a few houses apart.

My mom started dating my step dad when I was four. They got married when I was five and had my little brother when I was 7. That's about the time when I started spending some time with Aunt Anna and Grandma Susie. I don't think Grandma Susie really liked me all that much and she definitly didn't really try to entertain me much so I'd head off over to Aunt Anna's house.

I didn't realize that "Aunt Anna's name wasn't ANTENNA until I was probably about 12.  They are Italian and they run it all together. I called her Antenna for all those years and I was never corrected. Probably because it was so close she never noticed I was saying it wrong!

Me and Aunt Anna at my baby shower March 1994

She had the thickest glasses ever. True "coke bottle" lenses. They made her eyes look HUGE.

When you went to Aunt Anna's house you never used the front door. It was the side door, which of course entered right into the kitchen. She was always making something that smelled heavenly. I remember going over there and she had oregeno hanging upside down to dry in her dining room.

She had a big victorian couch and chair. In the early years when I would go over there her husband Uncle Jimmy was there. He was really nice and I remember sitting and talking to him. I can't remember his face, just the image of him sitting in his chair by the window. He died when I was still pretty little.

Aunt Anna was a hospital volunteer at a local hospital and she worked there for a really really long time. She would make all kinds of little things to give to the children and to sell in the gift shop. I remember her teaching me how to make pom poms with a fork (although I tried to make one recently and it didn't work!). She also tried to teach me to knit. That didn't work out too well either!

I have some yo-yo quilt tops that she had started making that maybe some day I'll finish fixing and putting together. They are made with a lot of polyester fabric so they are heavy!

I used to hate when I had to go to Grandma Susie's house when I was a kid but I'm glad I had Aunt Anna to hang out with. She lived to be in her 90's. She used to tell me she wouldn't be alive long enough to see me graduate from high school and yet she was still around when I had my last child!Pin It

I need to keep extra clothes in my car

I found myself in a bad situation today. I had rushed rushed rushed to get us all out of the door. I was in the car and looked down. That's when I noticed I had something on my shirt. It just looked like a small spot and I hoped it was water and it would dry by the time I got to work.

When I got to work I saw that it wasn't dry and it appeared to be some kind of grease.

My shirt was a dark purple so it was really showing up, and of course, right on my gut. To make matters even better everyone at work was wearing purple. Purely on accident we were all doing the twinsy things so of course I'm feeling like everyone is REALLY looking at my shirt.

Then the little boss girl told me she needed me to help at the meeting across the way. With the big uppity ups. and a stain on my shirt. on my gut. and I was wearing flip flops. and had my hair pulled back in a loose bun.

I'm sure they were all wondering what kind of riff raff they'd been hiring in our office. I haven't felt so out of place in a long time. A girl I work with had a Tide To Go Pen so I gave that a whirl. It actually worked pretty good, although you have to wait for it to dry. and I still had a spot (but a much smaller one).

I really wanted to use it again but we were too busy so I just hoped everyone was blind to the "help". I really need to get one of those and stick it in my purse. I'm always getting something on myself!

(no one paid me for this, although it would be nice if they wanted to send me some free ones!)Pin It

Just when you wished I was done talking about football

So the bad news is that Trev didn't make weight today and won't be able to play in the first game this weekend. The good news is that it won't really count against him since he hasn't officially weighed in yet (they get 3 official weigh-ins) and that I don't have to be in another city that is 45 minutes away at 7:00 am. on Saturday morning.

That would be REALLY early.

The coaches were really cool about it and were saying that they are confident that he will make it in time to be able to play. We're going to go back to no processed food again and only fruit for snacks. I forgot that that was what we were doing when he got down a bit before. We've slowly worked those back in and they really aren't healthy anyways.

I asked him if he still wants to play football. He didn't even hesitate and said yes.

I think I finally got Scott to see things in a different light. I told him to think of how he felt every time he disappointed his dad. How did that make him feel? We don't want to make him feel that way. He's supposed to be having fun. We need to look at this as a way for him to hang out and play with other boys his age and he's getting tons of exercise which is doing him a ton of good. I think maybe the man finally "GOT IT". Let's hope anyways.  I'm feeling way more optimistic about the whole thing now.

Another plus is that starting next week they are only practicing 3 days a week instead of 5. I think I'll be able to function a lot better with that extra time where I'm not sitting at the ball field!!Pin It

Debbie Downer

Gosh I feel like Debbie Downer lately. It would be so much more fun to be like Debbie Does Dallas don't you think?

The vibe here is not good.

I took Jess in to get her filling. When we got there they were telling me that I need to pay more money for past visits because they didn't charge me enough. Nice.

Then Jess went and got her filling and they did it without numbing her and now shesomggoingtodieandhertoothhurtssobad.

If you look at her she'll bite your head off.

Scott just got home with Trevor from football practice. In the 100 degree heat. They were supposed to weigh again tonight or else I probably would have just kept him home since it's so hot.

But of course they didn't. And when they got home Scott weighed him on our scale and does the "there's no way" because it looks like now he's TEN pounds over. Nevermind that the kid just probably drank a gallon of water.

I'm so torn about the whole football thing. He seems to like going now and the exercise is great for him (just not when it's so hot). But he's probably not going to be able to play and that's going to suck. He can sit out for the first 3 games if he doesn't make weight and then they say they boot them off the team.

So there's like 3 weeks.

Not sure what to do.

Oh and the dog ate Trevor's DS today. Thank God I bought it used from someone but that still really freaking sucks and I need to hide it before Scott sees it and freaks out. He's already like a stress case.

AND I'm out of booze!! WHAAAAAPin It

It's hot and my brain is fried.

It was so hot today. Somewhere around 106. Trevor had football practice and got to run the whole time to try and help get his weight down (again). I'm forbidden to leave since I'm his security blanket while he's there. Thank God there is a lot of deep shade for the parents to sit in.

Since I'm too tired to think of something whitty I'll share the pictures of my friend George and his wife Wilma that live outside on my geranium.

Adrian hangs out

My sister in law and my niece came over today. Originally they were going to come over around 9:30 so I was up scrubbing the tub at 8 lol. By 9 I had everyone else up helping. My house was a lot dirtier than I though it was! The kids rooms are dirty and the house still isn't perfect but it's way cleaner than it was. They finally got here around 11 lol. I could have slept in another hour!  After going to JoAnn's to get some supplies we came home and got busy designing the 1st birthday invites that we were going to make. I had got a few ideas off of Etsy to show her, which I'm really glad I did! That gave us a great starting place.  We needed a picture of the baby so we decided we'd just go plop her down in the garden and get one.  It took a few tries, here's a few that crack me up!

After several hours, here's the final product, minus the actual information that I have covered up there with the black box. We don't need any stalkers stealing my baby :)

The break up

It's the weirdest thing when your children break up with friends and boyfriends (or girlfriends if that's the case). Especially when it's someone that has been in your life for awhile and you've become accustom to them being around.  It's so weird to know that you aren't going to be picking them up anymore. Not going to talk to them. Maybe never even see them again.

If you haven't guessed Jessica broke up with her boyfriend today. He wasn't around for a really long time but it was most of the summer. A summer of me picking him up on the way home from work and having him in the car for about 45 minutes making conversation before we got home and they trotted off together. He left a book in my car the last time I picked him up. Which happened to be the same day that I lost my shit. Great last impression.

I guess he was pretty upset that she broke up with him. I think he REALLY liked her. Too much I think she felt. Oh what I wouldn't give to have someone like me TOO MUCH  haha. It's been a REALLY REALLY long time since I've had someone feel that way, if ever (if you don't count a clingy toddler). I really think I'm more upset about them breaking up than she is!

Well I guess it's on to the next one, I'll try not to get attached next time!

More Back To School Pictures

Yesterday was the first day of school for my younger two.

6th Grade

2nd Grade

They were both up bright and early and wanted to ride the bus on the first day. We ALMOST missed the bus (paper said 7:15, but was ready to pull out by 7:08!). Back to the usual of being in the car headed to the bus stop by 7:00 since you never know what time the bus is going to show up!

Do you ever have to hold in your laughter?

There's one mom at football that's pretty interesting. She brings her folding chairs (like card table chairs) with her to sit on. She has brown hair until about her ears and the rest is blonde. She's really pretty (once you get past the hair), but you can tell that she's probably had a bit of a bumpy ride on this road we call life.

Today she brought her oldest girl, who I have never seen before. Someone asked what her name was and she said her name is Mari*jayne.

Now I know I'm not nice but WHAT THE HELL?  Unless you live under a rock you know that "Mary Jane" is a name for pot, and yeah while looking at this family you just wonder if maybe "Mari*jayne" was conceived while smoking a little whacky tobaccy.

This woman has two other kids (that I've seen, maybe she has more I have no idea). The boy playing football has to be somewhere between 6-8 and she said she had him when she was 16. The little girl is older than the boy I'm pretty sure so I'm wondering if she was even younger when she conceived her. Oh and the boys name is something like "Cour*oisier", which she explained she didn't KNOW it was a name of an alcohol when she picked that name. She had heard the name on a talk show (Jerry Springer I'm guessing). The youngest boy has a really really weird name too, which she said was a great grandfather's name. Something that starts with a U and it's portuguese.

Now I'm all for naming your kids something different (although obviously I stick with pretty basic names myself-everyone wants to be able to find their name on a pencil at the mall), naming your kids after pot and alcohol and some scary old portuguese dead man seems a little bit out there.

High School Reunion Party

Saturday night there was a "High School Reunion Party" down at our little bar. My friend wanted to dress up so I last minute went rummaging through my closet and came up with....NOTHING. Then I went to my mom's place and found .... nothing. Then I went through Jessica's closet (you know the styles have all been coming back!) and found a vest she bought at a thrift store that wasn't really working for me, some jeans I thought about wearing but would have to go commando in since they were SO LOW and I couldn't find a long enough shirt to cover the middle. Then I was looking in Scott's section of the closet and found one of his t shirts. I put that over a pair of capri leggings, went and stole a long necklace out of Jessica's dresser and PRESTO I was ready to go.

Lovely web cam pic :)

My friend showed up and was wearing what I would wear any day. She didn't even rat up her hair! And she's mexican! She was too cheap to go buy the aqua net lol.

(took out pictures because people are RUDE)
When we got there they were playing 50's music. Apparently they thought they should work their way up through the decades. No matter how much we complained we had to listen through all the years until FINALLY some shit that was worth dancing to. And by that time we were feeling no pain so I'm sure we looked GREAT on the dance floor.  We just about closed the place down and it was oh so much fun!!Pin It

When I lose my shit

I'm going to be the first to admit that I totally lost my shit yesterday.  Not one of my finer days. I don't even know WHY I lost my shit.

I got home from work and picking up Jessica's boyfriend and went out to water the garden. I came back in and I was HOT. Then everything was irritating me, and if I said anything Jessica would "comment" on it.

Then it was time for football, and Jessica and her boyfriend wanted to go to the mall and AHHHHH had to rush rush rush to get there.

Probably drove a little too fast.
Probably scared them a bit.

Dropped everyone off and walked over to the store and bought an iced tea and some chocolate and sat down and ahhhhhh. Finally able to relax and cooled off.

I'm starting to wonder if I have something wrong with me. Like maybe I'm anemic or have sleep apnea or something. I'm sleeping plenty of hours yet I'm EXHAUSTED every day after work.Pin It

I work hard for my money!

This is how I started off my day today.

I raked from where I'm standing, to where that truck is.

WHY?

Because I was expected to help at work. Believe me I tried to get out of it.

They are putting in a "pollinator project" and that was part of the prep work for putting down plastic to kill weeds. I went in after 2 hours and one sheet of plastic was put down. The other people were still out there when I left at 2:30.

I'm sure I'll catch some hell for that later.

I can so not work in the heat and direct sun without getting a huge headache. I went in after the 2 hours because I felt it starting. Sure enough by the time I left work it was pounding, I was squinting to see and trying to make it home. I thought I was going to throw up for a bit but I didn't. Got home and pass out on the couch for 2 hours and felt worlds better when I woke up.

Then it was off to our favorite place!

FOOTBALL PRACTICE!!

Which actually went pretty well today. My little man can finally run like a normal person and almost keep up with the other kids. The only thing he still struggles with is karaokies (or grapevines as Jess calls them).  It was so cute before practice some other little kid was trying to help Trevor out with them.

As much as I hated football a few days ago I think it might actually turn out to be a good thing. All those boys to hang around is good for him.

Before practice was over Jess was being a little pill and huffed off  because "everyone was being mean to her". It's continued all night. Gotta love when aunt flo is visiting the teenager AND mom. Scott and the rest of the family are probably about ready to evict us.

1st day of 11th Grade for Jess, a good day of FOOTBALL for Trevor

Today was a MUCH better day. I didn't even want to kill anyone at work today! GO ME!! It started with Jessica's first day of her JUNIOR year. Good God I must be getting old, I tell ya!!

I made her pose in front of the tree like we do every year. She tried to complain but I told her we only have this year and next so just humor me! She's wearing  her link crew shirt, they help freshman on the first day of school and some other stuff I'm not sure of.

11th Grade

Goofing

Last year (10th) with a blurry cell phone pic :(

9th

That's all I have on the computer/blog, I'll have to find the rest some day. I think I have all but Kindy by the tree.

In other news, Trevor did GREAT at practice today! I think there was even some parents sitting on the far side of the field cheering him on lol. I have no idea who they were but they are AWESOME. I had my camera with me so I took a few pictures.

He saw me right away with the camre, he's in the middle looking at me

Big huge cheeser in this one

Another long football practice and someone gets to go back to school soon!

Well football today was much better. He had to get ready in the parking lot since we had some other errands to run so not much time to think about not putting on his uniform. AND there was that whole $1 he could earn. PLUS the ice cream I promised him yesterday if he tried hard, which he definitly did try a lot harder today. Too bad the coach (different one than the nice one that worked so nicely with him yesterday) still sat him out for at least the last half of practice while they ran drills with all the other kids. Pretty sad when you're kids not even considered good enough to PRACTICE.

Tomorrow Jess starts back to school. I can't believe she is going to be in 11th grade! A Junior! Where does the time go. Then sometimes those last 2 years just can't go fast enough lol. There are definitly days when I'd hawk my house for her to go to college somewhere FAR away. Well probably not really. When she was gone at camp for a week and then housesitting for my mom it was a really LONG 2 weeks. I really missed her!! Then she got home and started fighting with her brother...

Along with school comes riding the bus for one more semester. Hopefully she will have her license and a running car to drive by the next semester. I had to stand in line for about an hour to get a bus pass today. Could have sent in for it earlier but it's $180 (for one semester) and it's just so hard to let go of that money! BUT hopefully this WILL be the last time we have to pay for one until Melissa is in high school. So we'll get 2 years off. Thank God we don't have more than one in high school at a time (we don't have to pay for the elementry bus).

So we've gotten through Monday and Tuesday. I think we can fast forward to Friday night now..Pin It

Wednesday Wickedness with OPRAH

Wednesday Wickedness

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Oprah Winfrey. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. “I don't think you ever stop giving. I really don't. I think it's an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a check. It's being able to touch somebody's life.” What was the last thing that you did to help somebody’s life?

I fed my kids dinner.

2. “Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” How long have you ever held your breath?

I used to be able to hold my breath 2x across the side of the pool when I was kid.

3. “As you become more clear about who you really are, you'll be better able to decide what is best for you - the first time around.” At what point do you think that you really decided who your were?

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I think this is in the same catagory.

4. “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” At what time of the year do you think you celebrate your life the most?

My birthday? I'm always so happy I made it another year. One more year closer to my kids not getting totally fucked up if I die and someone else has to raise them. That's for me to do.

5. “So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground.” Are there times when you thought you had fallen down and learned something about yourself?

Everytime I fall down I have to lay there for a minute and make sure I didn't REALLY hurt myself. Then I get up cussing about all the freaking gopher holes in my yard.

6. “Devote today to something so daring even you can’t believe you’re doing it.” What was the last thing you did where you thought that you could not believe in what you were doing?

Today when I stood in line for an hour (in the 90+ heat and no shade) waiting to pay to get my daughter's bus pass. I SWORE last year I wouldn't wait until the last minute again!!

7. “Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.” Do you think that you must struggle to become strong?

Usually. If you haven't really had to fight to get somewhere than you don't really have that total satisfaction when you make it.  (you just want more)

8. “Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” Do you feel that life’s experiences always prepare you for what there is to come?

Yeah. I know as SOON as I get that laundry caught up someone's going to pee the bed or something.

9. “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” Can only a rich person feel this way? What do you think Oprah means by this?

Not really. People who don't hold much value in "things" seem to be able to achive this too. Look at all the people that backpack through Europe with all their belongings on their back. Although once they make it here they are usually just bums so I dunno.

10. “I do not believe in failure. It is not failure if you enjoyed the process.” Do you believe in failure?

Oh yes definitly. I have a few failures on my side of the family tree....

Thanks for checking out our Wednesday craziness. We hope you join us again. Please visit our other player's posts and make a comment. Join us next week for our next meme!Pin It

Mommy Hates Football

Oh what a LONG day of football today. It started after work when I went to Big 5 to buy a new mouth guard (apparently you shouldn't boil them for 5 minutes..)  The man got Trevor's football clothes washed last night but it was up to me to put the pads in today. So after doing the mouth guard the correct way I sat down to put the pads in. Which only took 2 text messages including pictures and a phone call to figure out. I finally got them done and left them on the kitchen table where the cat promptly threw up her half digested cat food all over the white girdle. GO SYDNEY! So glad we washed that.

So I wiped it off the best I could.

About that time Trevor starts chanting that he is NOT going to practice today and he is NOT going to put his uniform on. He asked if he could skip it (fine with me!) but I told him he had to call his dad (since I knew he'd get pissed if I didn't take him). Sure enough Dad says he has to go.

So here I am with a kid that doesn't want to go to practice and is refusing to put his uniform on.

I tried bribing with ice cream for after practice (against my better judgement) and a few other things. Nothing was working. I threatened him with his life and finally he got dressed. (with me feeling like the HORRIBLE MOTHER for making him go do something he doesn't want to do).

So he's all suited up, go to practice and he gets out there on the field and he's ALREADY barely doing anything. Nice. I've about had it with this football stuff. Apparently ALL the kids aren't doing their warm up drills correctly so they spend MORE time doing all their exercises than normal. Trevor's running/walking by and he's crying. I'm thinking OH SHIT THIS SUCKS! Then a few more kids go by and a few more kids are crying so it's not just mine. Sounds like a really fun sport doesn't it?

At this point I've about made up my mind that he's quitting. At one point one of the coaches comes over and says that he's having trouble with his new mouthpiece and that after practice maybe we can talk with the coach and find out "a way to make him want to play more". I'm thinking, basically make it fun?? Somehow I don't think that's the idea they had.

I got up at one point and Melissa and I walked over to Taco Bell for her to get a bite to eat and for me to eat my stress away relax a bit. By the time we get back Scott is there and I'm trying to talk him into letting the kid quit. I ended up leaving before the practice was over to take Jess and her boyfriend to a party. So when they get home he tells me that he is going to give Trevor $1 a day if he can get ready for football without any problems. The kid seems to think it's fine.

And my kid that had NO energy on the practice field? Is basically bouncing off the walls at the moment. It's only Monday and they practice Monday - Friday. Sigh.Pin It

Drinking and Dancing

Saturday night my friend and I went out to a "dance club". HOW have I got to the age of 36 and never ever went out dancing? I used to be so nervous about how I would look that I wouldn't even dance at weddings. My husband of course, was (is) the same way, which turned us into those people that just sit there miserably and watch everyone else have fun. Sucks being white sometimes I tell ya!

So of course, if you are one of the two people that read this blog you know that while we were in Vegas last time we ended up at this little outdoor club place and "I" danced my ass off! OH it was so much fun!!! I never knew I liked to dance!

About a month ago my friend and I were down at the club bar and we did some dancing down there. AGAIN oh so much fun!!

Maybe it's because now I have got to the age where I don't really care what anyone thinks. Especially after a few drinks. It feels great to bounce and sway and be goofy.

Which brings us to this Saturday. My friend had been telling me about this place to go dancing for awhile now and I kept telling her "sure I'll go!". So we made plans and I thought for sure they would get cancelled at the last minute. BUT they didn't and I found myself staring at my closet full of mom clothes trying to figure out WHAT I am going to wear.

For those of you that don't know me, my closet consists of v-neck t-shirts in a variety of colors, tank tops in the same variety of colors, a few hoodies, a token few long sleeve shirts and some clothes that don't fit. Oh and funeral clothes.

Eventually I decided on not quite funeral black top (which ended up being way too fucking hot, don't wear polyester dancing), and capri pants and get this: my 3" hooker heels I bought to wear to that wedding we went to in February (apparently I didn't blog that?). I bought them to impress my husband but he didn't even get excited about them. Major disappointment, and those shoes? Hurt like a mo fo. BUT I couldn't wear my flip flops or tennis shoes so that was about all that was going to work.

Backtracking a bit, that moring I had told Scott I was going to go out with my friend. He just says "whatever" and didn't even ask what or where we were going. I was kind of pissed about how he answered me, but he was all drugged up from the benadryl so I guess he has an excuse.

So I'm getting ready. I have on my pretty (but squeaky) bra and my capri pants and Scott sees me getting dressed and he's all "where are you going?". Suddenly all interested. Our DANCING baby!! I'm all dressed up and finally my friend gets here (she's being the designated driver!) and we head to the club.

We pay our $10 cover charge and go in and check the place out. There's a dance floor in the middle of the room and lots of creepy stalker type of men standing around the edges. We have moustache man with the big cowboy hat. Totally tiny short man. Big nose, big head totally creepy man. And LOTS of others. Oh and you can't forget the cat suit wearing pole dancer type woman. But as we moved closer to the dance floor there were some more "normal" people. We danced, then would take a break to stand by some fans, then dance some more. I had a few drinks and somewhere in there ditched the shoes and we had a great time.We stayed until almost closing time and have decided that we should go back real soon! (and I didn't even get sick on the ride home, go me!)

See that shadow on her face? She kept trying to figure out what it was.
I was too drunk to figure it out but looking at it sober it's the shadow from her camera lol.

A Uvula What?

WHY does it seem to take me so long to get on here nowadays? I know I'm probably starting to sound like a broken record saying that.

1.) No desk that's my own at work. Previously I had a desk to myself all the way in the back of the room where no one would walk behind me and I could sneak in a little blog post here and there.

2.) My kids are still out of school and we only have one computer at home so you have to put in a request 24 hours in advance to get your turn. Usually I use mine to do something exciting like pay bills.

So in other news. Scott woke up this morning with a swollen uvala. Yeah. he woke me up by shining a flash light in his mouth and saying "omgawd shekowt mi froat!!" I promptly told him to go take some benadryl and complained that WHY can't we ever have a freaking normal weekend??

By the way when I was looking for a picture of a UVULA (and making sure I was spelling the right word and not using a word that describes something in the vagina), I came across this, which probably explains wtf was wrong with him. Although I don't think he was drinking he does snore really well and does smoke.

I just sent him that link and he's all excited he has an excuse to go eat some ice cream now.

And since you know I only have one computer you are probably wondering how I sent him a link? I'm at my brother's house because I so wasn't spending the day listening to him lay around complaining. I brought the kids over here to swim even though my brother isn't home. We stopped off at In & Out Burger on the way and SOMEONE I had 2 cups of pink lemonade and now knows that was really not a good idea.

So the kids were swimming and I was bored so here I am. My brother's room mate is here with his little boy and so him and Trevor are taking turns killing off eachother on the Wii game they are playing and then getting thoroughly pissed off at eachother. I've threatened to leave if he can't stop fighting.

Later tonight I'm supposed to go hang out with my friend and get drunk and go dancing. Wish me luck.
